Most payment integrations work on the happy path and fail quietly everywhere else. A retried webhook charges the customer twice. A race condition creates two orders from one purchase. A dropped callback leaves a payment settled with the provider but missing from your database, and you find out when a customer complains.
I build the parts that stop that happening: signature-verified webhooks, idempotent handlers so the same event can arrive ten times and only count once, and reconciliation so your records and your provider always agree.
I have spent 7+ years on payment and backend systems, including cross-border remittance across five countries, escrow and refund logic for a crowdfunding platform, and subscription billing for a US SaaS product. I also wrote and maintain stateledger, an open-source library for modelling payment workflows as state machines.
You get working code, a test covering the duplicate case, and a short handover explaining how it behaves under failure.
