I started my journey with the love of computers and automation and all things in between in high-school. At a young age, I learned to understand all the basic hardware components of a classical computer and that understanding led me to wanting to understand the software that drove the hardware. Since high school, I have known that my passion lies in the understanding how software works and developing software to change the world and make it a better place for all one algorithm at a time.

Despite this, I never received a degree in Computer Science or similar. I changed paths and studied a BSc in Biochemistry & Genetics at the University of Cape Town but never completed the degree. Reason for not completing this degree was due to financial issues. In hindsight, it was a blessing in disguise as it has put me back on an old path that led me to Java, initially, for Android Development. I learned about data structures, object-oriented programming concepts, architectural patterns (specifically MVC and MVVM), design patterns, and so much more. A year after fiddling around, I came across Kotlin, a programming language meant to integrate with the JVM but do away with Java's verbose language. Kotlin taught me about the importance of null safety and other new concepts such as extension functions and sealed classes for better type safety. But as someone who was self-taught and worked alone, I needed an alternative language and/or sdk that would allow me to build beautiful, native mobile apps that would also run on both iOS and Android devices using one codebase. This requirement led me to discover the Flutter SDK and Dart language. Flutter allows me to code in a reactive-style and easily customize and/or animate the UI. Flutter is also the SDK used for Google's upcoming Fuchsia OS and its also being developed to work on the Web. Flutter is now my favourite SDK for developing mobile apps and I believe that it is the future of mobile and web applications.

I also use Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, Canva, and Figma to edit and create illustrations, logos, brand identity systems, and mobile ui/ux prototypes.

My passion and interests lie in computer programming and the sciences. I am always up to a new challenge and always eager to learn.

Today, I'm mainly focused on helping other brands and businesses transform digitally. With services in web design and development on offer due to my competencies in React, Gatsby, Azure, Firebase, Sanity CMS, and other technologies enabling modern website's with a JAMStack architecture.
