This life started for me at the age of 6 when I asked my eldest brother what he was typing into the blue window on his screen. He said he was creating a program to print on paper, I carefully watched him tap away on his keyboard for hours, testing a print, seeing the page empty, cursing a few times and then restarting the process.
I wish I could convey the joy I saw on my brother's face the moment the page came out with ink on it. That settled it for me, I was going to be a programmer.
The coming years my brother taught me QBasic and Delphi, my fun projects were always creating a program to do my math homework for me, each new concept I was taught in school meant I got to write a new calculator.
Fast forward a decade or two, I've managed to learn Visual Basic, C#, Java, Actionscript, Groovy, Scala, Objective-C, Javascript, Typescript, Python, PHP and even a little Perl. I've used these languages and the plethora of frameworks and libraries which come with them in a professional capacity in the life insurance and sales industries.
I've built small projects for friends & family, big systems for big companies, I've developed for the server, the web and mobile phones.
