About Rebeca

SQL Database Administrator
Colchester, United Kingdom - 12:11 am local time
I am a Microsoft SQL Server database developer and administrator with 10 years' experience. I have worked in the insurance, warehousing and dental industries. Having worked initially in database development and data migration projects in the insurance industry, then moved into a warehouse / supply chain business.

I have good knowledge of business processes and skills in leading a development team. I have worked on short and long-term projects with various integration and migration requirements. I have worked on creating business focused reports with SQL data as the backbone.

Previously I worked in data migrations, moving data between systems for external companies. Some involving a big-bang go live approach where data was moved overnight with the business operating in the new system the next day. Other migrations involved an incremental approach, where data was fed into new systems based on business requirements, either nightly or at other intervals.

I have worked as part of the third-line of a service desk, specialising in report writing for the business and general database administration activities. This involved monitoring and developing a data warehouse, optimising SQL queries, installing and upgrading different Microsoft SQL instance. I worked with SQL Serve AlwaysOn High Availability and a Failover Cluster during this time, and monitored these SQL instances to ensure integrity and efficiency of data and queries.

Within the same company I moved from the service desk into the development team. Here I worked on integrations between different bespoke systems, Power BI report writing with a SQL database source, or other Microsoft source. I worked on further improvements to our data warehousing primarily in moving to Azure Data Factory from SQL Server Integration Services. With the development team I have worked on reviewing their SQL code, testing their changes and ensuring efficiency and documentation is taken into consideration.

I have been involved in major IT incidents where server issues have led to potential loss of data. Through these I have worked on restoring data and investigating root causes. I have also worked with various Azure SQL instances, in data pools, as managed instances or with SQL instances hosted on Azure virtual machines.

Some of the projects I have worked on in the past are as follows:
- Migrating SQL Server Reporting Services to a new, upgraded SQL instance
- Migrating / Upgrading a SQL Server AlwaysOn High Availability cluster
- Migrating large data sets based on business specifications
- Writing ETL processes for integrations, data warehouses and reporting requirements
