I have a math background and 15 years of experience building software, most of it involving data in some way. SQL databases, reporting, pulling numbers from one messy system and making sense of them in another. That’s the part of the job I’ve always liked the most.
If your data lives in Excel, CSV, Google Sheets, SQL Server, Access, or even an export from QuickBooks or Xero, I can work with it. Duplicates, wrong formats, missing values, weird totals that don’t add up, that’s the stuff I fix every day.
What I usually get hired for is one of three things: cleaning up a messy file so it’s usable again, building a custom SQL report that actually answers the question you’re asking, or setting up something that runs on its own every month so you stop doing it by hand.
