Project details
This project is a Python + OpenCV–based computer vision system designed to measure the spacing between sheets moving along a production line. The system captures video frames of the conveyor, processes them in real-time, and calculates the gap distance (in pixels) between adjacent sheets.
The process begins with frame processing, where each video frame captured from the conveyor is converted into grayscale to simplify image data. A thresholding step then isolates the sheet regions, making them distinguishable from the background.
Applications:
Monitoring sheet spacing in manufacturing lines (metal sheets, paper, glass, PCB boards, etc.).
Detecting misalignment or overlapping in automated processes.
Feeding data into a defect detection/quality assurance pipeline.
