WHAT I BUILD
- Full-stack web applications. Python backends with FastAPI, Flask, Django or Laravel, and React, Vue or Astro front ends in TypeScript. Relational and document databases side by side, background job queues, caching, and search.
- AI-powered products. Retrieval-augmented systems that answer from a client's own data rather than from general knowledge: custom datasets embedded into a vector database, with query expansion and relevance filtering over the results, on fine-tuned models. Also speech-to-text and text-to-speech pipelines running Llama 3 through Groq and GPT-4o through OpenAI, with Vosk for offline recognition. Voice assistants, conversational agents and support chatbots.
- Automation and data extraction. Browser automation with Selenium and Playwright, resilient scrapers for sites that do not want to be scraped, scheduled pipelines, and the unglamorous infrastructure that keeps them running unattended for years.
- Running things in production. Linux services under systemd behind nginx, background workers with Celery and Redis, and S3-compatible object storage. I deploy and operate what I build rather than handing it over and disappearing.
- Mobile applications. Flutter for Android and iOS. My own productivity and finance app is published on Google Play, built offline-first with local storage and cloud sync.
- Data analysis and visualisation. Geospatial and statistical analysis over large public datasets, including published case-study work for an analytics consultancy. Turning messy data into something a non-technical person can act on.
A LONG ENGAGEMENT, AS AN EXAMPLE OF HOW I WORK
For the past 20 months I have been the sole developer on Resomix, a music technology platform now in production beta. The relationship started as a two-week scraping task and grew into the whole system.
I built and run the API backend in Python and FastAPI, the React and TypeScript front end, and the data layer across MariaDB, MongoDB and Elasticsearch. Around those sit independent microservices coordinated through Celery and Redis, catalogue ingestion over managed SFTP with CSV manifests and validation, a partner-scoped REST API with sandbox and webhooks, Stripe billing, an internal admin dashboard, and a load-testing suite. It runs as Linux services under systemd behind nginx, with S3-compatible object storage.
The first four months were research and development in a domain I had not worked in before, and several approaches failed before one worked. I own the architecture decisions, the deployments, and the production issues at 2am. That is the work I am best at: staying with something long enough to get it right.
HOW I WORK
- I would rather ask three clarifying questions up front than deliver the wrong thing quickly.
- I write documentation, because I have maintained enough of my own code to know why it matters.
- I have shipped in domains I knew nothing about at the start. Learning the domain is part of the job, and I plan and price for it honestly instead of pretending otherwise.
- Clear English, timely updates, and early warning from me when something is going to slip.
BACKGROUND
BS in Software Engineering from Riphah International University, gold medalist, 2020 to 2024. Six years writing software, five of them freelancing full time. Previously CTO at a small software company, and before that I built parts of the university's official alumni portal in Vue and Laravel during a year-long internship, which is still in service today.
I also work in PHP, Laravel, C++ and Java. They are not what I chase, but the experience is real and I am happy to take that work.
