My testing approach would be

a) Perform Requirement analysis (classify the requirements as critical, major and minor) based on the criticality
b) Test plan document and test strategy document
b) High level test scenarios
c) Traceability matrix
d) From high level test scenarios, prepare test cases and test data and classify it based on criticality
e) Before every release,perform quick round of smoke test to identify whether the build is fit for testing
f) During test cycle, if any bug found, raise the defect in appropriate tool with proper description along with screen shots and classify the defect based on criticality.
g) when defect is fixed, will retest or perform regression based on criticality of the defect.
h) Finally will prepare release report based on the defect status.
