Project details

Between 20 and 40 percent of subscription churn is involuntary: the customer wanted to stay, the card just failed. Most of that is recoverable, and most companies leave it on the table because Stripe's built-in retries are a fixed schedule with one email.

I build the recovery layer on top. First I pull your last 90 days of failed charges and classify them: soft declines worth retrying, hard declines that need a new card, authentication failures, and permanent ones you should stop chasing. You get a number for how much is actually recoverable, before we build anything.

Then I set up the recovery: retry timing matched to decline type instead of a fixed schedule, a sequenced dunning email flow with copy that gets opened, and a hosted card-update page so the fix takes one tap on a phone. Higher tiers add SMS, pre-dunning alerts before cards expire, and a dashboard showing recovered revenue.

Background: 9+ years in payments and banking infrastructure, PCI DSS scope. I also built and run a failed-payment recovery product on Stripe, so this is the system I use daily, not theory. Everything is configured inside your own Stripe account and stays yours.

About Rosen

Rosen T.Status: Offline
Senior DevOps & SRE | Kubernetes, Terraform, AWS GCP Azure OCI | Fixes
Sofia, Bulgaria - 3:03 am local time
I fix broken Kubernetes clusters, failing CI/CD pipelines, and runaway cloud bills, usually inside 48 hours. 9+ years running production infrastructure for payment providers and banks inside PCI DSS scope, so your systems get fixed carefully, not just fast.

I work across all four major clouds: AWS, Google Cloud, Azure and Oracle Cloud. That matters when your estate is split across two of them, or when you are moving from one to another and need someone who knows both sides.

What clients hire me for most:

Kubernetes: GKE, EKS, AKS and OKE. Crashlooping workloads, broken upgrades, cluster migrations, autoscaling, hardening, ArgoCD and GitOps setups, clusters built from scratch.

Terraform and infrastructure as code. Multi-environment platforms, state and drift cleanup, reusable module libraries, CI/CD with GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, Cloud Build and Cloud Deploy.

Cloud cost reduction. Right-sizing pods and nodes, ingress tuning, metric cardinality cleanup, sweeping orphaned resources. I usually find 20 percent or more.

Observability and SLOs. Grafana, Prometheus, Loki, Alloy, and multi-burn-rate SLO alerting that pages the right person instead of everyone.

Security and access. Zero-trust access with Twingate, secrets management, runtime security, hardening for regulated and audited environments.

Payments and billing infrastructure. Stripe webhooks, subscription billing, failed-payment recovery and dunning automation.

Recent work: a multi-environment Azure Terraform platform, GKE production migrations with ArgoCD GitOps and Cloud Deploy, Grafana Cloud observability pipelines, Kubernetes platforms built from scratch for a digital asset exchange, and Stripe billing automation for an EU SaaS.

How I work: fixed price with clear milestones wherever it fits, so you approve only when the thing actually works. I reply within the hour during European daytime and US mornings. I write down what I changed and why, so your team can maintain it after I am gone.

Tell me what is broken, or what you are trying to build, and I will tell you straight whether I am the right person for it.

Steps for completing your project

After purchasing the project, send requirements so Rosen can start the project.

Delivery time starts when Rosen receives requirements from you.

Rosen works on your project following the steps below.

Revisions may occur after the delivery date.

Audit 90 days of failed charges

Read-only Stripe access, then I classify every decline and quantify what is realistically recoverable.

Review the work, release payment, and leave feedback to Rosen.
