As a Database Administrator, I have to design data modeling according to business requirements. I used to tune the database by recommending DevOps to tune SQL commands, including SELECT with multi-table joins and Group by, and Order by. Sometimes I design and write stored procedures for some functions that need enhancement to process data in the database.
In my experience, 70% of database performance is related to SQL queries, 30% remains related to database configuration and data structure.
Steps to review and enhance a database system:
1. Review all database design (table structure)
2. Review all database sources (view, stored procedure)
3. Review all SQL commands that call a database
