Seeking a highly skilled and innovative Digital and Virtual Library Specialist to manage, organize, and expand our digital and virtual library services. This remote position requires expertise in digital resource management, online user engagement, and virtual library technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage and maintain digital library platforms such as Koha, DSpace, or other Integrated Library Systems (ILS).
Oversee the digitization of resources, ensuring accessibility and compliance with copyright regulations.
Provide virtual reference services and support for online patrons.
Implement and manage online tools for cataloging, indexing, and metadata creation.
Develop user-friendly interfaces and guides for accessing digital resources.
Conduct virtual training and webinars for users on digital library resources.
Monitor and analyze usage data to improve digital services and user experience.
Collaborate with academic staff, researchers, and students to meet their digital information needs.
Ensure the security and integrity of digital resources through backup and recovery strategies.
Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Library and Information Science (MLIS) or a related field, preferably with a specialization in digital librarianship.
Experience with library management systems like Koha, DSpace, or similar software (maximum 15 years).
Strong knowledge of digital preservation, metadata standards (e.g., Dublin Core), and open-access repositories.
Proficiency in virtual communication tools and online collaboration platforms.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
Preferred Skills:
Familiarity with IoT applications in library services.
Experience in online instructional design or e-learning platforms.
