We work with subcontractors and freelancers for every aspect of our business. We spend hundreds of thousands of dollars a year through Upwork and other platforms. Our experience with Illia Pushnov was without a doubt THE WORST EXPERIENCE we have ever had.
Our experience; Project was initially estimated by Illia on February 15, 2024, as a straightforward 4–5 week project, it ultimately spanned nearly one full year, not reaching usable completion until late 2024. Throughout this period, the budget significantly exceeded initial projections (2-3x initial estimates), unclear communication, and unresolved technical challenges—including the unsuccessful Entrata API integration.
To top it off, Illia explicitly requested off-platform payment on November 4, 2024, writing:
‘Would it be possible for you to send over the funds for the tasks that are done so far along with the servers fee for the period of the development? I can prepare the invoice for you. Appreciate if you send it to ACH account as upwork fees are high and I’m still due to Serhey for the past work.’
We declined this request and insisted we continue through the Upwork platform.
Furthermore, Illia subcontracted significant portions (if not all) of the work without adequate disclosure or approval, leading to severe project management challenges and miscommunications. Infact, every time we spoke to Illia about the project, it seemed he knew very little about what was actually going on.
