My work in health economics is fundamental to the concept of provision of health services to all, including adolescent girls and young women. As an economist I am well placed to motivate government and funders on cost effective and efficient resource allocation, drawing a link between financial cost and social gains.
I used evidence-based research to map the development of Botswana’s first stand-alone franchised network of voluntary HIV counselling canters, mirrored on the East and Southern Africa regional ‘New Start’ concept. I have developed several adolescent and youth focused marketing plans and am well placed to work with government, UN bodies and the private sector on research and evaluation projects in public health and social development. I have brought health programs into the formal educational system using the guidance and counselling structures in schools and co-opted donors to identify and approach hard to reach out-of-school youth with programs such as ‘Choose Life!’ (South Africa) mirrored on the Soul City Health Institute approach.
My work covers both individual capacity skill building as well as civil society (NGO) organizational development. I enjoy training and equipping research assistants with the skills needed for focused field deployment. I am competent in handling practical field realities and interpreting data findings with clear recommendations for setting new policy direction.
My business development experience encompasses vetting funding opportunities best suited for raising program and unrestricted resources to expand the delivery of social, community and public health initiatives. I function well within multicultural teams and have mentored staff from entry level positions, community workers, medical doctors, and PhD holders in an array of complex development projects.
