Photography website in self hosted wordpress with minimalistic design and SEO
I contracted Mohit in February to create a minimalist WordPress photography website for my business. I provided detailed instructions, references, and clear expectations from the beginning. The project was originally promised to be completed within 40 hours, yet as of May, the work remains unfinished.
Throughout the process, the intermediate results consistently failed to meet the requested design direction. While the provided color palette and some general requirements were followed, the overall design did not reflect the light, airy, elegant minimalism I specifically requested. Instead, the layouts appeared bulky, visually inconsistent, difficult to navigate, and overloaded with elements. Image formatting was also poorly executed, with photos displayed disproportionately and without proper attention to presentation quality.
I continued the project despite my concerns because I was repeatedly assured that the design details would be refined later. Unfortunately, meaningful improvements were not delivered.
Given the advertised web design expertise and certifications, I expected not only technical implementation skills, but also professional design judgment, user experience considerations, and proactive recommendations to improve the final product. That level of expertise was not demonstrated during this engagement.
I have previously worked with multiple offshore IT teams and freelancers with positive results, but this has been one of the most disappointing professional experiences I have encountered.
