Project details

Most migrations go wrong after the move, not during it — the site lands on a server nobody configured, and it runs slower than the host you left.

I move the site and set up the destination properly. Everything is tested on the new server via hosts file before any DNS record changes.

STARTER — Managed Host Migration
1 site up to 5 GB, to a host you already have. Full backup first, then files, database and media, serialisation-safe search-replace, SSL verified, DNS cutover and a full test pass. No server configuration.

STANDARD — VPS Migration + Server Build
Up to 20 GB, to any VPS or cloud server. Adds the full build: Nginx or Apache, PHP-FPM tuned, MariaDB, OPcache, Let's Encrypt auto-renewal, UFW firewall, fail2ban, daily backups, WordPress and PHP upgraded where safe.

ADVANCED — AWS or WooCommerce Migration
Up to 50 GB. Adds Redis and page caching, Cloudflare or CDN, security hardening, retained staging, rehearsal cutover with a rollback plan, WooCommerce order integrity check and 14 days email support.

Not covered: multisite networks and sites over 50 GB. Message me first.

Revisions cover issues with the migrated site, not new work on it.

About John

John N.Status: Offline
AWS DevOps Engineer | Terraform, CI/CD, Observability & Cost Cuts
Cairo, Egypt - 7:32 am local time
AWS Certified Solutions Architect and DevOps Engineer. I build cloud infrastructure as code, then operate it — including my own production platform serving roughly 300,000 live pages. Most cloud projects fail after launch, not at it. That is the part I am built for.

WHAT I DO

• Infrastructure as Code — Terraform and CloudFormation. Encrypted remote state, multi-AZ VPCs with isolated database tiers, least-privilege IAM. Your environment becomes reproducible instead of a server someone hand-configured two years ago and no longer remembers.

• CI/CD pipelines — automated testing, container builds, gated deployment, fast rollback. No more releases that depend on one specific person being awake.

• Observability — Grafana, Prometheus, Loki and CloudWatch, with centralised logging and alert routing that has actually been tested. You find out something broke before your customer tells you.

• AWS cost reduction — Well-Architected reviews covering cost leakage, security posture, reliability gaps and scaling limits, delivered as a prioritised roadmap with numbers attached.

• Migrations — moving workloads onto AWS without downtime, and untangling servers that were never set up properly to begin with.

• Data pipelines — ETL and S3 data lakes on Glue, Athena and Redshift with validation, deduplication and schema-drift handling, feeding Power BI and QuickSight dashboards that refresh themselves.

WHAT CLIENTS USUALLY CALL ME ABOUT

- A server that is slow, unstable, or was never properly secured
- An AWS bill nobody can fully explain
- A migration that has to happen without taking the business offline
- Infrastructure only one person understands, and that person is leaving
- No monitoring, so problems get discovered by customers

WHY IT WORKS

I do not only design infrastructure, I run it. Operating a live platform every day makes hardening, incident response, monitoring and cost control routine work rather than theory. That changes what I build for you: systems designed around what happens at 3am six months from now, not just what happens at launch.

I also publish my work. Open-source Terraform baseline modules, a live public monitoring dashboard, and seventeen free browser-based diagnostic tools I built and host myself — IAM and S3 policy checkers, Docker Compose production-readiness checks, DNS, SSL and site health. You can inspect the work before hiring me, which is more than most profiles offer.

HOW I WORK

Every engagement ends with written documentation: what changed, why, and what to watch next. You get full admin access to everything I build. No black boxes, and no dependency on me to understand your own infrastructure.

Thirteen years in customer-facing operations at PayPal and Air France came before this, so you get an engineer who explains things in plain language and tells you bad news early.

Trilingual — Arabic, English and French. Full working-day overlap across EMEA, and coverage of North American hours through to Pacific.

Tell me what you are running and what is hurting. I will tell you what is realistic before you spend anything.

Steps for completing your project

After purchasing the project, send requirements so John can start the project.

Delivery time starts when John receives requirements from you.

John works on your project following the steps below.

Revisions may occur after the delivery date.

Review & Migration Plan

I check your current hosting, the destination, site size, plugins and DNS setup, then confirm what's in scope for your tier before touching anything. Anything outside it is raised here, not after delivery.

Backup & Destination Build

A full backup of files and database is taken first. On VPS and cloud tiers, the destination server is then built: web server, PHP-FPM, database, OPcache, SSL automation, firewall and backups.

Review the work, release payment, and leave feedback to John.
