You will get WordPress Website Speed Report and 'Round One' Improvement

Project details
Included services (in addition to assessment of site speed):
assessment of current hosting (sometimes an upgrade is called for), setup of a CDN service, and configuration of WP Rocket for caching and minification.
If a given host has superior CDN or extra caching capabilities, activation and basic configuration of those is included. If you already have something like W3 Total Cache installed I can work with that, but it takes a bit more work to get similar results and sometimes the same results are not possible. Some other popular caching or minification plugins just aren't nearly as good in most cases... Please be prepared to purchase a WP Rocket subscription.
About 30% of clients are happy with their speed scores after round 1. Most need 2-8 additional hours work to meet their speed goals. About 15% require 8+ hours more work (these tend to be sites with very long busy pages). After the first round of optimization work you might be happy with the improvement, or if you want more speed you'll have an outline of options and estimated work hours to help decide next steps.

1. I told her at the very start - which is in our message log - that I had already decided to change my hosting to Siteground and that I was not interested in setting up a CDN content delivery network with Cloudflare as of this time.
2. I reluctantly authorized 1.5 to 2 hours only - for her to run another speed test before I made my change to my hosting - only because she was very adamant I should do this first, even though I already knew my hosting had to change and had already run my own speed tests, and given her screenshots of. Then she told me I needed to change my hosting and add Cloudflare - which I had already told her my decisions about in #1 point.
3. She then charged me a couple more hours for copious and lengthy emails arguing my decisions. If she wants to argue my choices, then don't charge me for the time it takes to write them. I did not ask for them. She was quite pushy and unpleasant when I asked her if she was charging me for these emails and unloaded on me in a very negative way when she confirmed she was, and should be paid to do so, since it was valuable information - which it really wasn't. I was NOT going to change to HER host of choice no matter what she said. Period. Full stop.
4. She added herself to one of my account without my permission.
5. When I was in the process of moving my site to the new hosting, she once again tried to take control by arguing she should do the testing after the move and implied that changing the host file in order to allow me to do the testing myself, which I wanted to do since she doesn't know my site or what may or may not break - was tricky and hard to do.
It's NOT. It's a one minute fix and you only have to add one line of code temporarily. She wanted me to take the time to actually write out all the possible things that might break so she could go over them. Right, like I can take 2 hours of MY valuable time to do that when I can just check everything myself.
So at the end of the day I had to pay her $359.00 for nothing:
1. I had already run speed test - so hers was not needed, which I told her and showed her - but I had to pay her for another one
2. I changed to the host of my initial choice - and did not need her lengthy emails urging me to move to the server of her choice - she charged me for every email
3. I did not set up Cloudflare to be a CDN since I didn't want one but she still insisted upon root access to my server to see the DNS records even though I had already given her a screenshot of them. She charged me for that too.
4. She was obstructive and not truthful about the host file change when I wanted do my own testing after the site move to the new server, which was more time efficient and what I wanted. I figured out how to change the host file myself - I told her I'm very tech savvy, but she ignored that.
5. She got really upset when I asked why she was charging me for unnecessary emails.
Overall, I felt bullied and not even comfortable to ask a question since I knew she would write a ridiculously long email reply that would take, according to her, 30 minutes to write and then I would have to pay for.
I was a successful freelancer myself for more than 20 years, and I would never treat a client the way she treated me.
Also, in my 20+ years of my freelance career, I've unfortunately seen numerous examples of developers like Erin who try and take advantage of people who don't have her level of knowledge or expertise and try and overwhelm them with geek speak and too much information so as to confuse the person into just accepting what appears to be helpful superior knowledge, but may or may not be.
I know better, and I won't be pushed around on my own site.
I see that Erin has lots of good reviews and so I urge whoever reads this to make up your own mind. I had a unpleasant experience with her, but many others obviously have had the opposite experience.
So talk to her yourself and make up your own mind. She might be just the person for your job.
Good luck to all.

About Erin
Full stack WordPress expert : design, development, optimization
My focus, my passion, is WordPress! I've been working with WordPress since its inception and love staying up to date on all the exciting developments of this versatile platform.
I regularly work on both server- and client-side components (everything backend to frontend), as well as speed issues, and SEO. I have experience with single-site and multisite installations of WordPress; self-hosted as well as wordpress DOT com sites.
On aesthetics and frontside design: I have created hundreds of custom themes. I write themes from scratch or create new child themes to fully customize any popular 'builder' theme to look exactly how you want. --I can take your mockup images or example website(s), and create a pixel-perfect new WordPress site to highlight your content/product.
I have advanced CSS skills so I can accomplish fast and creative solutions to styling limitations of themes or builders, and solve any browser-compatibility or responsiveness issues. I regularly incorporate HTML, CSS, Javascript, JSON, XML, jQuery.
On the backend..: I have experience with every coded aspect of WordPress, including writing and editing plugins or special code to expand functionality of popular builders like Elementor, Beaver Builder, etc. Oftentimes I write custom plugins to integrate functionality of dissimilar plugins or third-party apps. For example, custom MySQL database queries can be used to better display content, such as when a client needs to display a mix of data from 2 plugins that aren't integrated out-of-the-box. Or sometimes a client will need a shortcode they can use to stick in pages themselves that will output plugin data in a different way than the default options.
** If what you want can be done with PHP, I can code it for you! **
Optimizing all the layers:
Speed -- Getting all the stack layers to play well together is what it's all about. After all, your site can be as pretty as a picture, but if it doesn't load in time for the average internet connection, that's lost sales; lost audience! Let's get you UP TO SPEED!
With all the DIY 'builder themes' out there, it's very common for site owners to inadvertently end up with sites that are slower than molasses. I regularly come in at this point, assess, provide a report showing the issues and suggested fixes/options, then enact the optimization plan you approve, so your site can be all it's meant to be!
If you are just starting building your site, it's worth having it built with speed in mind from the ground up. But if you didn't, I can still help! Whatever your speed issue/goal is, I can assess and give you a report showing your options and expected results. --including assessing your current hosting. I can help you decide if your current host is adequate, or if you might need to find a more appropriate host(ing plan). For those with higher end hosting, I can perform load balancing and optimization at deeper server layers.
SEO -- one of the main ways to connect your audience with your content is through search engine optimization of your website. In addition to 20 years of ongoing SEO experience and learning, I have also worked for two SEO firms, where I greatly expanded my knowledge on deeper competitive SEO tactics and nuances.
Whether you've got just a few pages to optimize, or are in the market for detailed competitor analysis, I can help! And in many cases, for a fraction of what the big SEO firms charge. Contact me and I can work out an SEO campaign that fits your exact needs. Whether you want existing pages optimized, help finding keyword phrases to use, figuring how to get ahead of certain competitors, I can put together an SEO outline for just about any budget.

Not that every site is built on WordPress! --
As a full stack developer I'm not limited to WordPress sites. I have experience with several other popular platforms, as well as totally basic or totally custom HTML, JSON, XML or jQuery sites. If you have a website I can probably edit it no matter the platform. Just ask and I will tell you more details about exact experience related to your specific project.
---
Please don't hesitate to ask any questions. I truly enjoy helping folks with their online endeavors, so I'm happy to answer questions and respond to any concerns or issues you may have.
Thanks for stopping by!
