Most of what I see comes down to the same handful of things: a VLOOKUP pointing at a range that doesn't include the column it's asked to return, ranges that shift because they weren't locked with $, a lookup that fails because one side is text and the other is a number, an IF chain that stops updating when an input changes, or a SUM quietly missing rows someone inserted later.
You get the corrected file back, plus a short note saying what was wrong. Not just the patched cell, but the reason, so it doesn't come back next month.

I find the actual cause
I trace the formula back through what it depends on until I hit the thing that's actually wrong, rather than patching the cell that happens to show the error.
I fix it and check it holds
I correct the formula, then change the inputs and confirm the answer still comes out right, so it doesn't only work for today's numbers.
