Parry (Parmeet) is a friendly guy who knows his way around Zoho. He helped me build a coaching business over the course of 6 months. This involved CRM, Books, Analytics, and more.
However, I found it frustrating to work with Parry most of the time.
-Communication was difficult. He frequently misunderstood my questions and requests when typed. If asked more than one question via chat, he would frequently only address one of them. I’m NOT an engineer. He struggled to speak to me in a less-technical way that made sense without me straining to keep up. Also, his user guides were vague and unhelpful.
-Attention to detail: he works like an engineer who works alone. This results in sloppy fixes, inconsistent naming schemes that are confusing to anyone but him.
-Accountability: if he made a mistake that led to a bad business outcome, he would never take ownership or apologize for it.
In the end, the final result of the system we built was so fragile, that if I adjusted anything, the system would break, the wrong emails would go out, or client-facing communications would get messed up. This was so frequent and gave me so much anxiety, I stopped my entire business plan and am switching to something with far less complexity.
I take ownership around the fact that I wasn’t a great leader of the vision and relied too much on his expertise and recommendations. I didn’t hold him to stricter deadlines enough. I didn’t hold his feet to the fire to create clearer naming schemes or documentation (though that’s something I never anticipated being an issue in the past.)
