Ecommerce Website Performance Analysis & SEO Consultation
I hired Pol for an in-depth SEO analysis of my website, and the experience was extremely disappointing. Despite clearly stating in the contract that I’m an expert and required expert advice—not a cut and paste of scan results from tools like SEMrush and Ahrefs, which I already have—what I received was exactly that: a copy-paste from these common tools, something I could have done myself in less than an hour.
When I asked questions about the report, Pol showed no real understanding of my website and failed to provide specific examples. For instance, he claimed that my product cards were missing meta descriptions but couldn’t provide any link to show this. Had he navigated my site, he would have seen that the product cards have well-implemented meta descriptions, both on the front end and in the code. He even suggested implementing a collapsible description on products—a feature that is already in place, making it clear he likely never visited the site.
Add insult to injury - when I asked him to show where the product cards were missing meta descriptions, he claimed he couldn’t because he couldn’t complete a full audit due to the site’s size (150,000+ pages), despite this being clearly stated in the contract. He then contradicted himself in his final message, saying he had scanned the entire site with ScreamingFrog.. I had no choice to go on and end contract and ask upwork support to get help. Everything I stated here is visible in the chats with Pol from the support.
Overall, I was billed for 7 hours of work that provided no new value or information—just what I already knew. He also claimed he advised me about toxic backlinks, which was an issue I had already mentioned to him in our initial chat, telling him I had disavowed thousands of links in the last year.
This was a waste of time and money, and I do not recommend him for any professional SEO work. If you’re new to SEO, his work might suffice, but in my case, he didn’t show the expertise he promised before I hired him.
