3-stage restoration & upscaling pipeline (denoise → enhance → refine) for clean, stable HD results
Archival Video Restoration | De-interlacing • AI Up-scaling • Cleanup
Restore Old Video {analog or digital}— Clean • Upscale • Stabilize
Archive-Grade Restore

Send me your worst footage — I’ll fix a sample for $22.50. (Applied towards a final contract.)
If I can’t improve it, you don’t hire me.”

I specialize in video restoration, archival media handling, and AI-assisted enhancement workflows—particularly for legacy formats like VHS, Hi8, MiniDV, and film transfers.

This work goes far beyond basic editing. Proper restoration requires controlled de-interlacing, artifact cleanup, and enhancement techniques that improve clarity while preserving the original look—not over-processing it.

For those interested, here is the general workflow I apply across restoration and enhancement projects:

Tools & Systems:
DaVinci Resolve Studio Pro (editing, color, Fusion compositing),
Topaz Video AI (up-scaling, de-interlacing, restoration),
OBS Studio (capture, automation), ,
along with supporting tools such as HandBrake,
Shutter Encoder,
FFMpeg
and advanced file management workflows for large media libraries.

I also work with AI-assisted pipelines where appropriate—enhancement, noise reduction, frame interpolation, and captioning—while maintaining a natural, non-artificial final image.

🔹 Ingest & Source Evaluation
Each project begins with evaluating source format characteristics (interlacing, noise patterns, tape degradation, compression artifacts).
Different formats require different handling—there is no one-size-fits-all approach.

🔹 De-interlacing (Critical Step)
Proper de-interlacing is foundational.
Depending on the source, I use high-quality motion-compensated methods (including AI-assisted and traditional workflows) rather than standard field blending, which degrades detail.

🔹 Cleanup & Signal Correction
Chroma noise, analog artifacts, and compression damage are addressed using a combination of temporal and spatial correction tools.
The goal is to stabilize and clean the image without removing natural texture.

🔹 AI Enhancement & Up-scaling
AI tools (such as Topaz and similar platforms) are used carefully and selectively.
Enhancement is applied with restraint to avoid halos, edge artifacts, and the “plastic” look often seen in over-processed footage.

🔹 Frame Rate & Motion Handling
Where needed, frame rate adjustments are handled using optical flow or hybrid methods—always with attention to motion integrity and artifact prevention.

🔹 Final Output Philosophy
The priority is always:
Improved clarity
Preserved authenticity
No artificial or over-sharpened results

With 20+ years in broadcast, live event production, and industrial video systems, I don’t approach projects as a typical editor—I approach them as someone who has worked in mission-critical environments where failure is not acceptable. From museum installations to live productions and long-term archives, I focus on clean, reliable results that perform in the real world, not just on a timeline.

Proper restoration is a time-intensive process. Depending on source condition, even one minute of footage may require significant processing time to achieve a clean, natural result.

I’m comfortable working on everything from small test clips to full archival projects, and I’m happy to discuss workflow options based on the specific source material.

Project Organization & Transparency
All projects are supported with shared Google Docs and Sheets to maintain clear, structured communication from start to finish. This includes organized production notes, edit decisions, revision tracking, and sequential project updates—so nothing gets lost or repeated.

Time tracking is handled through shared Sheets, providing accurate, real-time visibility into work performed, hours logged, and task breakdowns. Clients always know where a project stands, what has been completed, and what comes next.

This system ensures accountability, efficiency, and a smooth workflow—especially on multi-stage or collaborative projects.

Test clips available: $9.95 (applied toward full project if approved)
