Read and evaluate a German text for style and form
Outstanding work, and genuinely useful in a way freelance review often is not. Across three rounds on the German translation of 300+ pages of a long nonfiction book, every report came back page-referenced: the exact sentence, what was wrong with it — calque, syntax, register, period voice — and a proposed German rewrite I could use as written. Most of Laura's suggestions went into the book in her own words, and several were the basis of standing rules for the whole translation. Laura also sent each review in a very timely manner and on schedule. Her comments were in both German and an English self-translation, which made the feedback immediately actionable. Last and very importantly, Laura was honest and trustworthy in saying plainly when a chapter still sounded translated, and when it no longer did. I would hire them again without hesitation.
