I love fiction of all kinds, especially fantasy, science fiction, young adult, clean romance, and any combination of these. It's a joy and a privilege to help authors polish their manuscripts, so they're ready for publication (or whatever next step authors are interested in.)
I've been a professional editor for more than five years, working mainly with fiction. I'm also a fiction writer myself, with experience helping others in a critique group for more than a decade. As an editor, I'm very good at noticing and fixing picky little problems like typos and grammar issues. I'm also a fair hand at helping people with plot, character, voice, clarity, point-of-view, continuity, word choice, and flow. It may also be worth mentioning that I'm a former English teacher with both a BA and an MA in English. The former is with a focus on creative writing.
I typically provide a document with small changes tracked. (Small changes are things like typos, misspellings, missing or extra commas, homophone mistakes, and grammatical issues.) I put line and content edits (explained) in comments.

EDITORS NEEDED for Historical Romance Novels - Long -Term Work
With some freelancers, we have lots and lots of great memories, and the things we've learned from them are things that helped us become better editors and business managers. Rachel's keen eye and willingness to get into the details of things and always justify her opinion when it comes in contrast with ours is proof that through healthy communication and as much 'disagreement' as needed, you can become better at what you do. If it weren't for her boldness and courage when editing the stories we gave her, we would have far less understanding of the genres we publish. She's a very knowledgeable editor with excellent editing skills and a historical background, so I'm sure that her next clients will benefit greatly when hiring her. It's very sad to see her go, but I hope our paths cross again in the future!

First Editing Pass
After receiving the manuscript, I edit it from beginning to end, tracking small changes and making comments about suggested larger changes. I return this document at or before the halfway point of the project.
Second Editing Pass
After the revised manuscript is returned to me, I do a second edit of the full story. I then deliver a clean document (with changes accepted and comments resolved) in addition to the marked manuscript.
