Bookkeeper Needed for LLC Company
I hired this freelancer for bookkeeping cleanup and reconciliation in QuickBooks Online. Unfortunately, the experience was extremely disappointing.
They billed approximately 314 hours for a project involving around 6,024 transactions, but the final deliverables did not appear to support the amount of time billed. The freelancer claimed that multiple bank and credit card accounts were fully reconciled, but the books were still not properly reconciled, and I was not provided clear reconciliation reports or documentation proving the work was completed as described.
After having the work reviewed by an accountant, I was told that only a fraction of the claimed work appeared to have actually been completed. That was very concerning given the number of hours billed.
I had set a 40-hour-per-week limit, and in my opinion, it appeared that the freelancer was billing up to that limit for manual work without producing results that matched the hours charged. The amount of billed time did not align with the actual condition of the books or the deliverables received.
As a result, I now have to hire another bookkeeper to clean up and redo the work, which has caused additional cost, delays, and frustration.
When I asked for clarification, the explanation provided was broad and repetitive, but it did not clearly show a detailed time breakdown, account-by-account proof, or specific reconciliation deliverables matching the billed hours.
For bookkeeping work, especially at this volume, I expected accurate reconciliations, clear documentation, and transparent reporting. Based on my experience, I would not hire this freelancer again.
