Automated Obstacle Avoiding Robotic Vehicle

The objective of the group project is to design an intelligent navigation robotic vehicle which on initialization should meet with certain scenarios.
Scenarios to be tested:
1. Forward direction with no obstacle with the use of stepper motor.
2. Forward direction with obstacle. The obstacle is detected by the proximity sensor.
• Obstacle on front, vehicle to move left or right.
• Obstacle on left and front, vehicle to turn right and move forward thereafter.
• Obstacle on right and front, vehicle to turn left and move forward thereafter.
• Obstacle on front, left and right, vehicle to turn in reverse direction thereby avoiding the obstacles.

Achievements and findings
• Managed to navigate and test the vehicle in above scenarios.
• Troubleshooting errors either in hardware such as soldering or modular testing.
• Learned the principle operation and applications of MCU(PIC), proximity sensor, optical sensor, and stepper motor.
• An interesting future study would involve robot to detect ramps and alter speeds when required.
