Customer Service Story
One day, a customer entered our office. He inquired about his package, and I went to check with the warehouse. His was one of the dormant accounts, and I had no idea he had ordered some stuff from us. Apparently, he had done so through my boss.

Unfortunately, some of the items were missing, through no fault of ours. He needed to have ordered well in advance to get everything from our supplier in time for him. I tried to explain it to him as clearly as I could, but it was impossible to make him happy. It must have been a good discussion though, for he lingered. In the middle of the conversation, he asked, “Do you know who I am?” This caught me off guard (I was somewhat amused but did my best not to show it).

For your curiosity, he was not a policeman, a politician, or even a board member. But he certainly deserved respect. Why? Because he was one of our customers! Well, he had a good social profile, and he also had this sense of self-importance. Fortunately, my boss came in, in the course of our discussion.

In my career, I have met so many different kinds of people, including different nationalities. I love serving people! What makes my day is seeing that I have helped someone solve a problem. It makes me delighted.

Just as society is made up of different personalities, so are the customers. They are from the same society. Some are very good, very willing to please, and some can be rather difficult, looking forward to making their point; however it comes out. I remember one time a boss told me, “…you talk to So-and-So. I can’t bear talking to her again.” And she was furious. She had just received a call from the So-and-So. I did call the person after some time, only to find there wasn’t a big issue after all.
