I currently work as a Senior Legal Assistant for a group of lawyers in government finance. My duties in that role include:

- Opening and closing files as needed;

- Planning and coordinating of several projects to standardize administrative processes and workflow throughout the finance sub-group;

- Assist with modernizing the finance sub-group’s filing systems to increase efficiency, quality, and uniformity while increasing accessibility and adherence with the bigger group;

- Setting up file management processes for all matters in the electronic file management systems;

- Organizing and maintaining the records and legal files that the lawyers work on, ensuring that the files are complete and accurate, as well as the tasks of opening and closing files;

- Organizing documents, opinions, and legal advice as instructed by legal counsel;

- Organizing, attending, and taking detailed minutes of team meetings;

-Coordinating and scheduling meetings, logistics and, if applicable, managing timekeeping.

-Managing solicitor files, including complex files;

-Maintaining a bring-forward system to ensure timely response to correspondence and attendance at appointments and meetings for assigned legal counsel;

-Assisting with and liaising on behalf of legal counsel in relation to IT issues;

-Managing incoming and outgoing correspondence, including compliance with record filing and retention policies.

-Drafting group presentations to the other ministries by gathering, organizing, and distilling the necessary information and working with the lawyers to create the final product.
