Michael successfully completed the project. While we agreed on an initial project price, he completed the work without first double-checking whether it was within budget. He acknowledges in messages that he could have done a better job of updating the scope of work required. Other elements related to attention to detail were missed, such as copying existing automation requirements into his newly implemented automations. This required me to do additional work to ensure everything was correct. Michael also spent time building out a new automation that wasn't initially in the brief. This was required to ensure the setup was fully functional, which I can understand, but I wish he had communicated this in more detail before proceeding.
