About Karen

I worked as a clinical nurse between 2011 and 2015 in public hospitals and private clinics in the Metropolitan Region in Chile.
I have teaching and research experience in universities in Chile, Peru, Colombia and Canada.
I have led teaching teams in the areas of basic sciences and research, in addition to serving as a methodological advisor in quantitative research in various areas of nursing research, public health, and evidence-based health.
I am deputy director of the Joanna Briggs Institute for South America.
I completed my postdoctoral studies in substance control policy evaluation at the University of Sherbrooke, Canada (2022-2024).
My interests are focused on impact evaluation of public policies on vulnerable populations, especially those related to substance use, health services research with a focus on team wellbeing and gender studies.
