My philosophy on "futureproofing" is that there can be no such thing. The future is fundamentally unknown, despite our best and most informed attempts at prediction. Rather, I subscribe to and practice the concepts of "futureprepping" - preparing for a variety of different futures with an outlook that is both agile and radical - and "futureshaping" - actively envisioning, strategizing, and attempting in all practical ways to manifest the particular future we wish to bring about.
Integrated with geopolitical and technological forecasting, my approach to futurology encompasses an array of disciplines spanning demography, anthropology, psychology, sociology, biology, epidemiology, ecology, meteorology, astronomy, cosmology, and a core collection of applied sciences and liberal arts. The trend forecasts, risks assessments, and scenario gaming that I produce, and the attendant consulting advice that I render, can be scaled from the macro grand strategy level to the micro situational-tactical level, and all intervening levels. My syncretic fusion approach is equally qualitative and quantitative, grounded in both probabilistic reality projection and speculative fantasy vision.
