PROFILE

As an experienced professional in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), I bring a unique blend of strategic insight, empathetic leadership, and dynamic adaptability to my work. My journey, beginning in tech consulting and evolving into a focused DEl path, has honed my skills as a quick learner and creative problem solver, thriving in challenging environments. I am passionate about redefining success in the corporate world, advocating for an environment where success is not just customisable but achievable for everyone.

My approach is centred around clear objectives, a data-driven strategy, and a deep commitment to equitable practices and cultural empathy. My background in acting and growing up in church mean I excel in storytelling and public speaking, making use of these skills to engage audiences and bring them along on their journey. Known for listening attentively and valuing every voice, I adeptly tailor my approach to meet diverse needs, whether it involves delving into details or inspiring creativity.
With a strong ability to create structured plans and deliver compelling business cases, I am dedicated to leading meaningful change in DEl.

My goal is to ensure that every voice is not only heard but also valued, creating a truly inclusive and thriving organisational culture.

MY MISSION

"To create a world where everyone is able to be successful, whatever success looks like for them."

I am committed to breaking down barriers to success, advocating for a professional world where opportunities are available to all, irrespective of background or identity. My vision embraces a broad spectrum of achievements - from career advancement to personal fulfilment and work-life balance. I advocate for proactive inclusivity in business policies and processes, challenging traditional notions of
success and championing a workplace that values diversity as a catalyst for growth and innovation.

MY DEI JOURNEY

My journey into the DEI world was largely driven by personal concerns: as a Black man in tech consulting, I saw Black colleagues advancing slower than myself, and there weren't many senior Black role models to aspire to. So, I set about on a journey to change the narrative.

Key moments like a peer's unfair promotion setback and realising the lack of Black partners at Deloitte fuelled my resolve. My involvement in the Inclusion Think Tank and founding the Deloitte Black Network, were early milestones. Leading Deloitte's response to the Black Lives Matter movement was a defining moment, culminating in the launch of the UK Black Action Plan, which I then ran alongside cross-functional stakeholders in Comms, Reward, Ethics, and Recruitment. As the co-lead of the Black Network, I created a firm-wide coordinated approach to the Black History Month celebration, at both Service Line, and geographical levels, so that everyone had an event to go to, no matter where in the business they sat.

At Wayve, as the first DEI Lead, I crafted the inaugural DEl strategy, relaunching their Employee Demographic data, and Engagement Data capture processed, weaving them into the company's fabric, recognised by Flexa in their Industry Award for our flexible workplace culture in the Deeptech and Al industry. This strategy was more tactically reflected in the increased activation of our Employee Resource Groups, into more vocal representatives of employee sentiment, and in the rollout of anti-harassment training initiatives in response to raised concerns.

WELLBEING & DEI
My approach includes wellbeing as a core element, led by my personal experiences with burnout. I champion redefining workplace success to value mental and emotional health alongside professional achievements, advocating for a balanced view of success that includes contentment and personal growth. In practice, this involves shaping policies like parentalleave and anti-discrimination to cater to diverse needs, fostering a culture where wellbeing is openly discussed. My leadership is rooted in empathy, recognising everyone's individual journey and underscoring that a truly inclusive company is one that prioritises the holistic wellbeing of its people.
