Character Design - Teen
Eva did not uphold her end of the contract. I clearly communicated all expectations and provided detailed references from the start, including character images, some were AI-generated. She accepted the job fully aware of this. What followed was two months of frustration and wasted time.
My project was stalled while she produced only a few preliminary sketches that I cannot use. After that delay, she suddenly decided she could not complete the work due to details I had disclosed upfront and that she later claimed she was uncomfortable with.
This was a complete bait and switch. If these issues were a problem, they should have been raised before accepting the contract, not after holding my project hostage for two months. She then refused a refund. Very unprofessional. If you need someone reliable and accountable, especially with deadlines, steer clear.

My name is Eva Pfaff. Art is my gift and being helpful is my passion. I studied painting and drawing at Illinois Central College and the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. I have been a professional Illustrator/Character Designer for over 9 years. I have designed layouts and illustrated for 10+ KDP published books.

Mood Boarding and Mind Mapping
My process starts with me gathering all the information I can about the character so that I can build a mood board and mind map that will inspire the character and keep it focused.
Rough Concepts/Thumbnail Sketches
Second, I create a series of thumbnail sketches and play around with silhouettes, shapes and proportions. This is the fastest way to quickly envision a rough concept that will fit your character and be easy to read and interesting to watch.
