My Brief Bio:
I have come from humble beginnings to create a formidable creative design business. I have a wide range of skills ranging from fine art to airbrushing, graphic design, audio-visual production, merchandising, brand building, and strategy.
Armed with no more than an O-level certificate and a passion for art, I embarked on my journey in 2003 after my mother gave me a 3-month ultimatum to either secure my future through art or pursue a formal career path.
Rising from a lowly paid matatu airbrush artist, I moved on to airbrushing faces on t-shirts - a wildly innovative venture at the time. (N.B. "Matatu" is the term used to name public service vehicles in Kenya. Some "Matatus" enhance their appeal to commuters by having their exteriors painted with vibrant graffiti-inspired artwork)
Airbrushing t-shirts enabled me to meet both local Kenyan and international celebrities who needed to distinctively brand themselves. Using savings from this business, I went on to buy a computer so as to perfect digitized art.
A stint with Mash Auto, a Nairobi-based garage renowned in the local scene of “pimping rides” would soon follow, after which I decided to fully set up my t-shirt printing business. Gradually, my vision crystallized into what my business is today -to create an umbrella company within which all my talents and those of others can be accommodated.
Despite being doubted and even ridiculed for not pursuing a stable and secure career, I remain unfazed to pursue my dream. I am driven by the many struggles of growing up in a single-parent home and have achieved my goal of having a center of operations that houses an audio recording studio, an editing suite and printing operation.
Although I was born with natural artistic ability, I have honed my skills through self-study in digital design. I am constantly seeking out new technologies and software to enhance my work and bring my creative vision and that of my clients, to a wider audience.
