Saas web app demo explainer video animation
I am canceling this contract due to a complete failure to meet deadlines and a lack of communication from the freelancer in the final stages of the project.
The Positives:
Initially, the freelancer was communicative and made good progress. The first milestone, which included the storyboard and voice-over, was completed and approved. On August 18, I was sent a video preview of the work-in-progress, and my initial reaction was that the quality looked great.
The Challenges:
The primary issue was with the project timeline. On July 19, the freelancer reported a software crash that caused them to lose some of the files. While issues can happen, the project never got back on track after this incident.
The project then suffered from a series of missed deadlines and extended delays:
- On July 30, the freelancer stated the project would be "fully done in 3 - 5 more days".
- By August 4, I had to follow up again, explaining that the video was the only thing holding up my app's launch. The response was a vague promise to "deleiver soon".
- A final deadline was communicated following our call on Monday, August 18, with a promise of completion within "24-48 hours".
- As of Saturday, August 23, the work has not been delivered. My messages sent on August 21 and August 22 went completely unanswered.
This lack of communication after missing a firm deadline is unprofessional and has left me with no choice but to cancel the project. While the freelancer seems to possess the technical skills required, the inability to manage a project timeline and maintain crucial communication makes them unreliable.
