Designer for Custom Illustrations and Icons
I worked with Meilia (or I should say her team) on a few icons we needed developed. I want to start by saying that the experience was not terrible. It is clear there is a team delivering work and she works as a project manager of sorts - which explains some of the stuff. I will say, however, that many times icons/illustrations required more back and forth than needed and instructions not followed. In the end what ended up leading me to close the contract was asking to be paid (milestone released) before delivering the work. upWork rules state that you submit work together with the milestone (it is funded in escrow by upWork) and upWork releases the money even if the client doesn't. This is what protects both parties. Anyway - I've been using upWork for years across dozen of projects and millions spent. There is better talent out there you just need to spend some time to find it. However, if you are ok with some project management struggles and back and forth maybe Meilia can be worth it (on a cost/benefit analysis). Wish her the best though.
