With the new versions of iOS and macOS, Apple has introduced a new design language for their app icons: Liquid Glass. This gives updated icons the ability to react to dynamic lighting and rendering modes that adapt to user preferences like light mode, dark mode, clear and tinted modes. In addition, macOS 26 now forces icons to a rounded rectangle shape, automatically scaling icons down that use a different shape.
