Project details

This project offers a customized data visualization service at competitive prices for three different tiers. The data must be provided in one of the specified formats (see requirements) - web scraping is *not* offered as a part of this service.

The service is primarily aimed at research professionals in science academia for assistance with producing high-quality, publication-ready figures for presentations/journal articles. Industry professionals will also see vast benefits in upgrading from rudimentary Excel plots.

The deliverables shall be high-resolution images of the visualized data, along with a generously-commented Matlab script that reproduces the same outputs with a single mouse click. The client can use the script to generate new updated images by simply editing the input file path in the script (or by replacing the input file in the working directory) and re-running the script.

Please note that the service does not include any mathematical modeling with the provided data, apart from data-cleaning and the basic mathematical operations required for visualization of the data (array operations, calculation of summary statistics, probability distribution functions etc).

Structural engineer - simple software/programming and algorithm creation I can't speak more highly of Aditya. Such a smart guy. Lovely. And easy to work with. We really had fun making this super complicated project a reality

Please note:

(1) I am currently only accepting hourly projects at the rate of at least 60 USD/hr, preferably those with a potential to turn into a long-term association.

(2) I prefer to work with industry professionals over academic researchers, since the former category of clients tend to have well-defined deliverables and reasonable time-frames. However, if an academic problem is sufficiently novel and interesting, I could be persuaded (not only to join, but at a lower rate too)!

(3) TLDR; If you're offering an hourly project, please don't ask how many hours will be needed to complete the job. Why? Read on...

Although it is sometimes possible to approximately predict the number of hours required to finish a job before an offer is made, this is always at best an informed guess, and I - like most freelancers who've been in the game long enough - always try to err on the conservative side. So my advise is simple - Trust the freelancer to know what she's doing, and IF you have reasons to suspect their competence and/or sincerity, feel free to terminate the project at any time.
In reciprocating this trust, I promise to refund the entirety of the first week's earnings if you choose to terminate the project anytime in the first week on the grounds of incompetence, no questions asked - although thankfully it has never come to that for me so far.

(4) For scientific computing, I exclusively use Matlab (or GNU Octave, if open source is a project requirement). For Finite Element Analysis, I mostly either write codes from scratch in Matlab (for special purpose finite elements), or (somewhat reluctantly) use Ansys. I *do not* code in C, C++, Python, Scilab etc. I *do not* use Abaqus, NASTRAN etc.

(5) I have had very little experience working with a team - my favorite work-setting is me left alone to work tirelessly on a well-defined problem until the desired output is achieved.
