You will get a custom Adobe InDesign script to automate DTP and translation workflows

Project details
Repetitive InDesign tasks slow down DTP and translation projects. I build custom scripts—and AI-integrated workflows—that turn manual steps into reliable automation.
What I automate:
• Layout checks, overset detection
• Find/Change with multiple rules, language-aware
• Resizing, alignment, style normalization
• Missing link reports, batch exports (PDF, IDML)
• IDML cleanup, multilingual text flow
AI integration (Advanced):
I integrate LLM APIs (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini) into your InDesign script. Examples: auto-generate alt text, translate text frames in place, validate terminology against a glossary. You use your own API key and cover token costs.
What sets this apart:
Japanese-English technical translation, multilingual DTP across 22 languages, technical documentation. Scripts run daily in production under strict NDA. They handle language-specific behavior—line breaks, fullwidth/halfwidth, font fallback—with realistic test coverage.
Generally cross-platform; OS-specific workflows discussed before development. Delivery includes installation instructions and inline comments.
I work with publishers, academic teams, IT/SaaS, B2B tech, and e-learning.

About Sho
Multilingual DTP Automation Specialist | JP/EN Technical Documentation
Kawasaki, Japan - 2:42 pm local time
and AI automation in one workflow.
I don't just format documents — I build the systems that format them.
If you're spending hours on manual InDesign updates, fighting inconsistent
terminology across translated documents, or copy-pasting between translation
tools and layout files, I can build the automation that removes that work.
Every AI workflow I build keeps a human professional in the loop for
final quality assurance.
WHAT I BUILD
→ DTP automation scripts for Adobe InDesign (ExtendScript, UXP, Python)
→ AI-powered translation workflows using Claude, GPT, and other LLM APIs
→ Terminology consistency checkers that compare translated content against
glossaries (Python + LLM)
→ Custom JP-EN translation pipelines integrating TRADOS Studio with AI
pre-processing, post-editing, and final QA by a human professional
→ Documentation system design: building the workflow that produces
reliable output, not running it manually
PROOF
- 17+ years producing multilingual technical content for global manufacturers
- Coordinated 22-language translation rollouts for European consumer
electronics, including TV user guides and on-screen menu text
- Built JavaScript automation for InDesign that cut recurring manual update
time substantially on long-lifecycle documentation
- Built an open-source AI-powered terminology checker (Python + Claude API) — available on GitHub
- TOEIC 900 / Adobe DTP certified
- Publishing technical articles on multilingual DTP and InDesign scripting
(English, ongoing)
- Selling production InDesign scripts on Gumroad and aescripts
INDUSTRIES I WORK WITH
Publishing, academic, IT, SaaS, B2B tech, e-learning, consumer electronics,
industrial equipment, and any organization that needs multilingual
documentation produced reliably at scale.
TECH STACK
AI / LLM: Claude API, OpenAI API, prompt engineering for translation
and content tasks
Languages: Python (pandas, API integration, automation), JavaScript
(ExtendScript, Node.js), VBA
DTP: Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop
Translation: TRADOS Studio, CAT tool integration, JP-EN technical
translation
CMS / Content: CCMS workflows, structured content production
HOW I WORK
I'm based in Japan (JST, UTC+9). For US clients, that means I can deliver
overnight on your work day. For UK and EU clients, we have a workable
afternoon overlap. For Australia, near full-day overlap.
I respond to messages within 24 hours on weekdays.
DATA HANDLING
I treat client materials as confidential by default. When using AI APIs
(Claude, GPT, etc.), I configure for zero data retention so your content
is never used for model training. For sensitive projects, I prioritize
local processing in Python over cloud APIs where feasible.
If your project involves long-lifecycle documents, frequent revisions,
multilingual rollouts, or terminology that must stay consistent across
hundreds of pages, get in touch. Tell me what you're trying to ship and
I'll tell you whether I can help.
Steps for completing your project
After purchasing the project, send requirements so Sho can start the project.
Delivery time starts when Sho receives requirements from you.
Sho works on your project following the steps below.
Revisions may occur after the delivery date.
I review your requirements, files, and environment details.
I check the task, sample files, InDesign version, operating system, reference PDF, and any external data before development starts.
I confirm the scope and completion criteria with you.
Before building, I confirm what the script will do, what is out of scope, supported files, revision limits, and the expected result.
