Clients often have a list of people's names (in a CSV or Excel file) that need to be separated into first name and last name. This can be done manually, but that can take a long time and is fraught with human errors and mistakes. I've built tools in Excel that use data from the U.S. Census Bureau, the Social Security Administration, and other reliable sources to do this work not only quickly, but accurately and thoroughly. The tools do >90% of the work automatically, then point me to the <10% that requires manual attention.

I am more than a spreadsheet hobbyist. My 40+ years as a software developer and software executive, and my mathematics and statistics degree lead me to approaching Excel and Google Sheets projects as a software engineer - very systematically with accuracy, robustness, and performance in mind.
