Project details

If your custom web application or online store is getting harder to change, slower under load, or you inherited it from another team, an audit tells you exactly where you stand before you spend anything on rebuilding. I review your codebase, database design, architecture and security, then give you a written roadmap of what to fix, in what order, and what it will take. I am the founder and lead developer of a 55-person team in Greece, and I have built platforms that hold real volume, including a custom Laravel engine running 500,000 products for Australia's largest diamond retailer, a 26-site migration with zero data loss, and a B2B trade portal for a major Greek dairy group.

Full-Stack Developer to Build/Migrate Our Custom Ecommerce Platform (Laravel / PHP) Yannis delivered excellent work on this Full-Stack Laravel task. He got up to speed with the codebase quickly and approached both tasks with the kind of care you want from someone working on an existing production system.

The bug in calculateDiscount() was identified and fixed cleanly. He spotted straight away that the method was multiplying by 100 unnecessarily, corrected it, and left a clear comment explaining what was wrong and why. No overcorrection, no unnecessary changes to surrounding code.

The fulfillment webhook endpoint was well-built. HMAC signature verification was implemented correctly, the payload validation covered all the required fields, the Order model was updated as specified, and failed webhook attempts are being logged properly to the designated log file. The response codes were all correct. Everything worked as expected on the first review.

What stood out was how independently he worked. He read the spec carefully, asked one precise clarifying question about the HMAC secret key format, and delivered everything without needing further input. That kind of professionalism makes a real difference when working with an existing codebase.

He also included a clear note on how he tested both tasks - curl commands for the webhook and artisan tinker for the discount calculation - which made it easy to verify the work on our end.

His English communication throughout was excellent - professional, concise, and easy to follow. Would hire Yannis again without hesitation for any Laravel or full-stack PHP work!

Laravel code review / audit of one module (security + quality) I hand Yannis my Laravel code. He reads it like a map.
He goes through one module for security and quality. He finds the weak spots I walk past every day. He shows me the risk in each one. Then he tells me how to fix it, and what to fix first.
The part I value: he tells me when my code is wrong. No yes-man here. He says why, in plain words.
He answers the same day. He keeps things calm and clear.
I trust his eye. I hire him again, no question.

Most people bidding on your project have never run a team. I have run one for 21 years. Fifty people, thirty-plus international clients, and Agency of the Year at the 2025 Digital Agencies Awards.

So what am I doing on Upwork? I take a handful of projects a year myself, and I choose them. I pick the ones where the site is the business, not just a page that sits there.

🏆 I started Netstudio in 2005 and grew it to 50 people and more than 30 large international clients.
🥇 Agency of the Year at the 2025 Digital Agencies Awards, plus Gold in three more categories.
📈 21 years building online shops and websites, from one-product sites to very large stores.
🔧 8 years selling marketing before I started the agency, so I was selling before I was building.
⏱️ I answer every message within 12 hours, and most within one.

Here is what 21 years teaches you. Web projects almost never fail because of the code. They fail because nobody decided what the site was for, and three months later the whole team is arguing about buttons. So that is where I start. First call, one question: what is this site meant to change about your business? If you have a clear answer, we will get on well. If you do not, I will help you find it before anyone writes a line of code.

🔹 Online shops and websites, built from scratch.
🔹 Moving a site to a new platform without losing your traffic, your Google rankings or your customers.
🔹 Leading the build for teams that have coders but nobody in charge.
🔹 Fixing builds that got stuck. That is most of what reaches me.

What I turn down: jobs where the brief is a list of features and nobody can say what the site is meant to do for the business. I will help you work that out first, or point you to someone cheaper who will just build the list.

📞 Tell me what you are building and what is in the way. I will tell you what I would do first, whether or not you hire me.
