We deploy a self-hosted GitLab using Terraform, preferably on Hetzner with fully automated provisioning, but it can also be deployed on a VM at any cloud provider (AWS, GCP, etc.).
This setup gives you full control over your codebase, avoids paid GitLab subscriptions, and reduces long-term costs.
