One out of the two PDF posted at the project section is a well cleaned and transformed data whiles the other is the messy data scraped from the web. The data comes from a website and is about the prices of gaming products and its accessories. The uncleaned data contained information such as item name, item brand, and a price column which contained two different prices.
After the extraction, these are some of the steps I took in cleaning and transforming the dataset in Excel:
1. I created separate columns for each set of data and assigned the appropriate data types.
2. I formatted the various columns and removed leading white spaces.
3. I assigned column names and also created additional columns and assigned formulas to calculate the percentage discount, amount discount and a True or False column to easily filter items that have discount.
