I gave this developer an opportunity even after noticing early on that he relied heavily on AI-generated code — which, to be fair, a lot of developers are doing now. The difference is that professional developers still manually review their work, test deployments properly, verify backend functionality, and check the frontend user experience before pushing anything live. This contractor did none of that.
There was absolutely no human quality control. He blindly pushed code without testing, without verification, and without understanding how the actual product flow worked. The result was constant bugs, broken functionality, poor user experience, and rushed work that felt completely unmanaged from start to finish.
If you need a very basic website done quickly and cheaply, maybe he’s a fit for you. But if you operate at a high level, run serious products, or care about stability, scalability, user experience, and professional engineering standards, stay far away from this contractor.
There was no real project management, no structured communication, no accountability, and no deployment discipline whatsoever. Everything was rushed. Every update introduced new problems. Features were pushed live without approval, without testing, and without even the most basic deployment safeguards.
The final breaking point was when he deployed terrible code directly to production without approval. The result was catastrophic: new users were met with a black screen during onboarding and were effectively locked out of the platform. Our system was down for roughly eight hours while we scrambled to hire another developer just to stabilize and revert the damage because he could not resolve the issue himself in a timely manner.
This was one of the most careless and irresponsible development experiences I’ve dealt with. I will never hire him again, and I strongly recommend others avoid making the same mistake.
