Migrate from Google Maps to 100% Free Open‑Source Map Solution (OSRM / MapLibre / OSM) Full Feature
Rashid has good technical knowledge and was able to explain clearly what is possible and what limitations exist when moving from Google Maps to open‑source solutions. He set up the core routing, map display, and free official UK data sources as discussed.
However, the project suffered from repeated delays due to personal issues and equipment problems, which extended the timeline far beyond the agreed 4‑day scope. Several key navigation and display features — such as mileage/ETA staying visible when closing/reopening the app, smooth auto‑zoom, bold visible street names, clearing old directions after a trip, and reliable voice guidance — were not fully working or fixed by the end.
He was responsive in communication, but the final delivery was incomplete and required constant follow‑up to resolve issues.
