🚨𝐍𝐨𝐭 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐲 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐟𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐟𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤:
I hired this freelancer based on his commitment to deliver a set number of hours per week, but he consistently failed to meet that commitment.
⏳𝐑𝐞𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝𝐥𝐲 𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐝𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬:
He did not demonstrate an understanding of business urgency, missing every deadline that was set. Despite offering him two additional chances (more than I usually do), the same pattern of casual work continued, resulting in financial impact and a delayed project launch.
🤒𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐮𝐞𝐬 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐛𝐞𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐝𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬:
On three separate occasions, he reported feeling sick right before the deadline. In two of these cases, he did not inform me directly — I had to hear it from someone else on my team. The third deadline, which I personally set, was also missed. This reflects poor communication and lack of professionalism. Team members were blocked and disturbed by such unrealistic behavior.
🛑𝐔𝐧𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐨𝐫 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐩𝐨𝐨𝐫 𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬:
▪ He was provided documentation with detailed calculation logic and sample websites — which he clearly did not review.
▪ We conducted a recorded session to walk him through the business logic — he claimed to understand it, then later forgot.
▪ A follow-up session with a subject matter expert (SME) was also arranged, which he attended and claimed to understand, but again failed to retain.
▪ He frequently postponed working on assigned tasks, and when he eventually returned to them, his updates were based on entirely incorrect logic — contrary to what had been clearly documented and explained.
⛔𝐋𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐬 𝐛𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐞𝐧𝐝 𝐝𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐜𝐚𝐩𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬:
He demonstrated a lack of basic backend development instincts — such as reading documentation, implementing logic, and debugging effectively.
⛔𝐅𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐝 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭:
While he showed some promise on the frontend, every task he delivered eventually broke down or failed to function properly. Even then, he was unable to meet his own delivery timelines.
🚫𝐌𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐩𝐚𝐲𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐝:
Due to incomplete and broken work and missed timelines, I could not approve the final milestone. It made no business sense to pay for half-done or faulty work that had to be redone from scratch by another developer.
𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐟𝐮𝐥 𝐛𝐞𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐨𝐫:
When I declined to withhold feedback on Upwork, the freelancer engaged in unprofessional arguments — a clear violation of Upwork policies.
𝐒𝐮𝐦𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐲:
Out of all my hires on Upwork, this freelancer has shown the weakest sense of commitment, ownership, and professionalism. I cannot recommend him for serious or time-sensitive projects.
