WordPress Developer (Mid–Senior) — Drop-In Search/Cards Component
I did not have a positive experience with this developer. The project was fixed-price, with clear opportunities to clarify or decline the scope before starting. Although the setup may not have been standard, the contract and milestones were reviewed, approved and signed by the developer.
After starting, I was told additional funds were necessary. A second contract was written and approved, yet work continued outside scope without my knowledge. Discussions became unproductive, and focus shifted from results to hours spent. Despite a higher budget, goals weren’t met—milestones slipped, updates lagged, and progress declined while cost rose.
I lost confidence and trust in the developer’s ability to deliver. As an expert in the field, had the challenges been communicated early, it would have given me the opportunity to pause and rethink scope. Unfortunately, I ended up paying the start up fee and having to walk away.
