Interactive World Map Sea Depth Design
The freelancer is talented at designing interactive maps, and I appreciated his willingness to take on a Shopify project despite having limited prior experience with the platform. Unfortunately, collaborating on the full-stack development of the application was difficult.
Communication was the biggest issue. Responses often came only once a day—and sometimes took two days—and there were few proactive progress updates. Development moved very slowly, and on several occasions I was told that all reported bugs had been fixed, only to find that the same issues remained. It appeared that the implementation had not been thoroughly tested before delivery, which resulted in repeated back-and-forth over the same fixes.
I gave the freelancer time to learn Shopify because he seemed motivated, and I respected his willingness to work through the challenges. However, after several months, less than 60% of the application had been completed. I ultimately rebuilt the entire app myself using ChatGPT in five days.
Overall, I would recommend him for interactive map design, where his strengths are more apparent. For a full-stack Shopify application, however, my experience was affected by slow progress, limited communication, insufficient testing, and a lack of consistent focus.
