Invoice Capture, Approval Workflow & QuickBooks Integration
Unfortunately, this project was a very disappointing experience.
Before the contract started, the freelancer clearly confirmed that the core system would be completed within 1 week, with the QuickBooks integration requiring an additional week.
However, after several weeks of delays, he requested a partial payment release with the assurance that the remaining QuickBooks integration would then be finalized.
Even 3 weeks later, the full process was still not functional. It became apparent that the QuickBooks integration was still being experimented with rather than properly implemented and tested. The system delivered was incomplete and effectively unusable.
The situation became worse when additional payment was demanded to complete work that was already included in the agreed scope. When I refused, the freelancer cancelled the contract entirely and did not give any handover documents for what he claims was complete- He has been paid as well.
End result:
* Multiple weeks lost
* No working end-to-end system delivered
* Significant time wasted
* Poor delivery planning and scope management
I would recommend future clients clearly validate technical expertise and insist on milestone-based working demos with ownership of the technology before releasing payments.
