Naren is a skilled freelancer with lots of experience. We hired him for a React app with a fixed price contract originally, and later converted it to an hourly contract at his request. There were a few issues on both sides initially: Us taking our time to review intermediate results and approve milestones, on the other hand the first set of screens that Naren implemented and considered done had a large number of deviations from our design templates. The fact that Naren works with Linux only and therefore was unable to open our original Adobe XD files and had to base things on screenshots didn't help in the overall process. Just as it felt like the project was moving forward with us giving out very clear next steps and detailed feedback on design fixes, and accommodating to Naren's request to switch to an hourly contract, he kept putting us off from week to week and eventually stopped communicating altogether, so we had to continue with another freelancer.
I understand that working on larger projects with more and predictable hours is always preferred by freelancers, but it was disappointing that the project stopped with so many unfinished parts.
