8 years in the classroom taught me to read people : their hesitations, their intent, the thing they meant but didn't quite say. That same instinct drives every translation I deliver. I don't just ask "what does this mean?" I ask "what is this trying to do to the reader?"
My process is simple : I read the source text until I hear it. Then I write the translation until it sounds like it was always in English, or always in French.
