Online Marketing Project for Auto Dealer - Part-Time, Remote
After trusting him to manage his work himself and log hours manually during the project, I asked for additional details on one invoice. He promptly quit, with no discussion or notice, offered no transition and refused to provide the requested information, instead choosing to end the contract and stop communication. In addition to the requested work not being completed, the marketing platform activity logs indicated that hours logged were not accurate. He also deleted some of the work he charged us for (Google Merchant Center setup) without our permission. I subsequently requested a partial refund for the timesheet in question and he ignored my request. We are now in a position where not only did the needed work not get done, but the new person taking over has to start from scratch with almost no information on what was done leading up to this point, so we pretty much wasted our time and money on this project. I have worked in the marketing services industry for 25+ years and, in my experience, issues like this can be easily resolved with simple transparency and communication and general professionalism.
